Edward was born May 14, 1928, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Chester and Alta Bell (Davis). He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, from 1948-1951 as a Corporal, in the military police. He was united in marriage to Helen Bowen on June 12, 1949. Ed worked for 31 years at Griffin Pipe retiring in 1990 as a pipe inspector. He was a longtime member of Broadway Christian Church where he served as a Deacon. Ed was an avid fisherman, as well as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Opal McGuire; brothers, Don, Laverne and Orville Manley.
Survivors include wife, Helen, of 64 years; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy Schaben (Mike), Laura Keen (Kenny), Jackie Jean Manley, all of Council Bluffs, Teresa Jo Manley, of Missouri Valley, Iowa; five grandchildren, Jon Schaben (Lyndsay), Danielle Hubbard, Lee Adkins, Chelcie Jo Cunard, Jacob Jon Cunard; four great grandchildren; sister, Helen Clark, of South Carolina; and niece, Carol Ann Boyce.
