Born in Paulding County, Ohio, Feb. 23,1910, he had spent his lifetime in the county. Mr. Kigar operated Don's Market in Gladwin from 1932 to 1971. He was a member of the Gladwin United Methodist Church.
Mr. Kigar and the former Ethel McMahon were married Dec. 24, 1931, in Gladwin.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Willard (Bill) of Gladwin; 4 daughters, Mrs. Dante (Donna Lee) Costanzo of Oakridge, Tenn., Mrs. Charles (Jeanie) Engel of Beverly Hills, Calif., Mary Jo Hillman of Gladwin and Jan Jeltes of Holland; one brother, Rollin of Gladwin; 2 sisters, Mrs. Madonna Spring of Petoskey and Mrs. Ruth Dersnah of Picton, Ont.; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A brother, Harold, preceded him in death in 1964.
Services were held Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin Chapel. The Rev. Joel Hurley officiated and burial was in the Highland Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church. Gladwin County Record dated 7-27/1988.
