Ronald David "Dave" Waters, Sr., age 77, of Gainesville, FL passed away on Friday February 22, 2013. He was born in Lake Butler, FL on November 3, 1935 to Louise Dixon and Ressie Waters, Sr. Dave served in the U.S. Army, receiving and honorable discharge. He retired after a 25 years career with the City of Gainesville and also retired from the School Board of Alachua County after 17 years. He married his sweetheart Margie Pons and together they celebrated 58 years of a loving and happy marriage. He was a devoted Christian and served as a Deacon for over 40 years at the Fairbanks Baptist Church. Farming his land was another love and he canned all his own vegetables. He is survived by his loving wife Margie Lee Pons Waters; sisters Jone Welch and Mildred Berry; brothers Ressie Waters, Jr., and Joseph Dicks; his daughter Cinthia Brantley; sons Gregory Waters, Ronald Waters, Jr., Tony Waters and Christopher Waters, as well as his 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral Services were held on February 28, 2013, at the Fairbanks Baptist Church in Gainesville, FL. Interment followed in the Fairbanks Cemetery.
