Geraldine M. "Gerry" Pickin, 75
Geraldine M. "Gerry" Pickin, 75, of 1804 Bloom Road Danville PA died Tuesday, November 20 2007 at Geisinger Medical Center Danville PA. She was born May 11 1932 in Mifflinburg PA the daughter of the late Lester and Mary Jarrett Walters.
She was employed as a dressmaker in dress factories in Riverside PA, Elysburg PA and Catawissa PA. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Danville where she served faithfully in the nursery and was also a member of the Friendship Class and Circle of Friends. Mrs. Pickin enjoyed growing flowers. She was a person who always put others needs before her own, especially her grandchildren and church family. Mrs. Pickin enjoyed exercising at the Danville Area Community Center which involved both swimming and being a member of The Silver Sneakers.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years Charles J. Pickin Sr. whom she married February 9 1952. She is also survived by her sons; Charles J. Pickin of Plantation Florida; John W. Pickin of Danville PA and Ed Becton of Plantation Florida.
Also surviving are her daughters; Tish A. Glasgow and her husband Jim of North Augusta South Carolina; Mary J. Pickin of Danville PA and Kathleen M. Scott and her husband Charles V. of Conneautville PA. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Matthew and Jessica Pickin; Tressa, Keri, Alayna and Jordan Scott. Also surviving are two brothers; Robert W. Walters of Riverside PA and Harry A. Walters of Danville PA.
A celebration of Gerry's life will be held Friday November 23 2007 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church 20 Brookside Drive Danville PA with the Reverend Dr. Harry H. Wonderland officiating assisted by the Reverend David J. Mouw. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Danville PA. Friends will be received 9:45 until 10:45 AM at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to either The Memorial Fund of First Baptist Church or the American Heart Association 7272 Greenville Avenue Dallas TX 75231-4596. Arrangements are under the direction of the Visneski Funeral Home, Inc. 10 W Mahoning Street Danville PA.
