Mr. Vaver was a member of World War I Barracks 129, a 69-year member of the Longview American Legion and a life member of the 40 et 8 Club, Longview Elks Lodge 1514 and International Longshoreman and Warehousemen's Union.
He has been a resident of Longview since 1927.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Marion Vaver; a son, James A. Vaver; a sister, Dorothy Harkcom; and a brother, Ralph Vaver.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita, at home; four sisters, Margaret Amos of Cornelius, Ore., Mabel Russel of Crescent City, Calif., Clara Baldwin and Marie Schweikhardt, both of Longview; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service is at 1 p.m. Friday at Longview Memorial Park.
