Dale H. Newton, 84, passed away Friday, February 22, 2013 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. Interment will follow at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Dale was born January 27, 1929 in Osborne County, Kansas to Harley and Edith (Bowen) Newton. He graduated from Alton High School in 1947. Dale married Lorene Rohrbouck on November 4, 1950 and to this union four sons were born: Robert, Richard, Steven and Michael. He and Lorene also helped raise two of his nephews, Bill and Joe McKenzie. Dale was enlisted in the United States Army from 1951 to 1952 and served in the Korean War. Dale was a truck driver by trade, but a carpenter at heart. He built a home and helped remodel many, as well as teaching his sons electrical, plumbing and carpentry. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix. Dale had a special gift for woodworking and shared his many creations with everyone. He also enjoyed going fishing. Dale was a very humble man and always put other's needs before his own.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene of Gering; sons, Robert (Nancy) Newton of Gering, Steven Newton of Scottsbluff and Michael (Andrea) Newton of Chesapeake, Virginia; grandchildren, Robbie, Jennifer, Amy, Heather, Chris, Jeff and Greg; five great grandchildren; and nephew, Bill McKenzie.Preceding Dale in death were his parents; son, Richard Newton; sisters, Marcene Newton, Mildred Cartwright, Wilda Reynolds and Norma Jean Newton; and nephew, Joe McKenzie.
