Zachariah Rand, is the son of John Rand 1721 – 1789, Revolutionary War Soldier and Elizabeth Holden Rand 1730 – 1756 of Westminster, Worcester, Massachusetts.

He was born 18 Aug 1752 in Westminister, Worchester, Massachusetts and died 9 Apr 1826 in Pittsford, Rutland, Vermont.

Revolutionary War Patriot. US Revolutionary War pension and Bounty-Land Warrant Application Records list him as applying for pension in both Massachusetts and Vermont.

According to the History of Vermont

Zachariah Rand, Westminster, Massachusetts private, Captain Noah Miles's company, which marched on the alarm of April 19, 1775, to Cambridge, Massachusetts and joined Colonel John Whitcomb's regiment; service, six days; reported enlisted into the army; also, Captain Edmond Bemis's company, Colonel Asa Whitcomb's regiment; muster roll dated August 1, 1775; enlisted April 25, 1775; service, three months, 14 days; also, company receipt for wages for August, 1775, dated Camp at Prospect Hill; also, company return (probably Oct., 1775); also, order for bounty coat or its equivalent in money endorsed November 30, 1775; also, Corporal, Captain Elisha Jackson's company; travel out and home, 200 miles; service at 20 miles per day, 10 days, probably in August, 1777; company marched from Westminster, Massachusetts to East Hoosuck, Massachusetts under command of Major Ebenezer Bridge on an alarm at Bennington, Vermont and was there dismissed; roll dated August 22, 1777.

Zachariah settled in Pittsford in 1809 in Sagar Hollow. HIs son Ebenezer Blanchard Rand took over the family farm. Ebenezer also purchased the Ewings Tavern and kept a public house until he died in 1851. Ebenezer's son Newton then took the farm, then Ebenezer's son Egbert.
