Son of Mary and John Huenefeld, Ralph Huenefeld married Mary Harlan in 1932. He was a kind and generous man, corresponding with Jane Denny and Marcella (Huenefeld) Whittington discussing Huenefeld family history. A retired "U.S. immigration inspector and investigator," he was well-equipped to assist the Huenefeld searching. He was also in touch with others as Gaylord Huenefeld, Thomas E. H. Huenefeld, along with Walter Rehmer of Germany who was supposedly in touch with Mr. Hunsche.

Mr. F. E. Hunsche of Tecklenburg located, 1974, in the Evangelical Reformed church in Ladbergen a record of Hermann Wilhelm Hünefeld born May 3, 1806, parents Herman Wilhelm Hünefeld and Anna Elisabeth Ramiers, married 24 February 1794.

Mr. R. Huenefeld's grandfather, William Hermann Heinrich Huenefeld born 30 October 1818, came to Cincinnati "alone" about 1834 or 1835. (Other Huenefeld records indicate that Ralph Huenefeld’s grandfather, Herman Heinrich Wilhelm Hünefeld born 30 October 1818, married Christina Maria Fiegenbaum 19 July 1844. This couple and their daughter, Sophia, arrived Port of New Orleans 27 February 1846 along with his mother and other Huenefelds. Additional Huenefeld research on this grandfather is welcomed!)

The great grandfather of Neil Armstrong from his mother's side of the family was born in Ladbergen. His name was Kötter. He came to New Knoxville, OH, about 1860 to avoid military service. Neil Armstrong is 3/4 German despite the Anglo-Saxon name.
