Funeral services for Minnie Abney Winkles, 76, were held in the Webb-Benson Funeral home at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. Oris Powell and Rev. Carl Clay officiating. Burial followed in the Highland cemetery. Mrs. Winkles was born in Texas county, Mo April 13, 1884, and died at the Memorial hospital in Okemah Sunday. She moved to Oklahoma in 1900 and lived first at Eufaula. She came to Okfuskee county in 1919 and has lived here since. She was a member of the Land Mark Missionary Baptist church at Morse. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Albert Henshaw, Okemah; Mrs. Harlen Hargrove, Okemah; Mrs Harlen Green, Modesto, Calif; one son, Roy Winkles, Okemah; one brother, Jack Abney, Okemah; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will include Coy Branscum, Billy Gordon, Kenneth Boyd, Alvin Kenneda, Wayne Root, and Amos Brimer.
