Daughter of the late James W. "Bud" Powell and Mary McGalliard Powell, she was the widow of Johnnie Lee Franklin, Sr. Additionally, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruby Franklin Jarrett, and by two brothers, Raymond Powell and Keith Powell. She was survived by her children, Johnny Lee Powell, Jr. (Dolly), Allen Franklin (Lori), Dorothy Lowman (Elbert), Linda Absher and Carolyn Franklin; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Byrd (Herbert); and an extended family of relatives and friends. She was a member of Drexel Church of Christ. She was retired from Drexel Knitting Mills after 40 years. Her funeral was held on February 26, 2013, with The Rev. John Barnhardt and Bishop John Smiley officiating.
