Francis Eugene Franklin was born August 21, 1919 in Ringgold, Bienville Parish, Louisiana to Ernest Eugene Franklin and Ava Lee Noles. He died April 28, 1970.

In 1940 Francis Eugene Franklin was living in Rural Caldwell Parish, Louisiana. He completed one year in college. He was a bookkeeper for a Funeral Home.

The following information was furnished by Francis E. Franklin, Jr.:

Francis served in World War II (1941 to 1945) at Fort Dix in NJ and the occupation of Germany post war. On returning to civilian life in Louisiana, Francis took advantage of the GI Bill and entered Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, Louisiana where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering, Francis met Mojie Weise Ford (of Mansfield, LA.) at Tech, and after marrying they moved to Poughkeepsie, NY in 1951 where Francis worked for IBM until his passing in 1970. Francis was involved in the IBM 360 mainframe computer. Francis Sr. and Mojie Weise had their first child, Francis Eugene Franklin, Jr. (Buster) in 1953 and their second child, Mojie Weise (Little Bit) in 1959. Francis died at age 51 in 1970. His colleagues at IBM paid tribute to him as the person that always remained calm during a crisis at work and his children remember him as a pillar of integrity. While short in stature Francis Sr. was a true giant as a moral compas.
