Marshall - Patty Rice Ramsey, 93, of Ramsey Chandler Road, Marshall, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2005, after an extended illness.

She was a native and lifelong resident of Madison County. Mrs. Ramsey was a long-time member of Union Valley Baptist Church and was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker. The Ramseys were foster parents for the Baptist Children Homes, caring for many children. They made a great difference in the lives of their foster children and were a great inspiration to them.

Mrs. Ramsey was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Katherine Rice; husband of 65 years, Clarence Edward Ramsey; son, Weldon Ramsey; son-in-law, Tommy Chandler; five brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by her daughters, Reva Ramsey Chandler and Jo Ann Ramsey of Marshall; sons, George Monroe Ramsey and his wife, Elizabeth, and Bronie Ramsey and his wife, Danny Jean, all of Weaverville; daughter-in-law, Imagene Ramsey of Chucky, Tenn.; special sons, Randy Sprinkle of Atlanta, Albert Sprinkle and his wife, Michelle, of Asheville, Clarence Luther and Linda of Charlotte; special daughters, Carolyn Gleason of Stanley, Kay Oxendine of Hamlet and Louise Gleason of Kings Mountain; grandchildren, Tina Milette Crum of Greeneville, Tenn., Timothy E. Fox of Marshall, Vickie Gehm of Melbourne, Fla., Suzan Heros of North Andover, Mass., Sherrie Hadley of Greenville, S.C., Tamie Doyle of Greer, S.C., Donna Gardner of Weaverville, Dwayne Ramsey and Karen Renee Farrell of Weaverville, Tina Marie Freed of Lakewood, Colo.; 12 great-grandchildren and 12 foster great-grandchildren.

The funeral service for Mrs. Ramsey will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Madison Funeral Home conducted by the Revs. J.A. Griffin, Jerry Freemen and Olan Rice. Burial will follow in Clarence Ramsey Cemetery.
