ANITA GARNETTE ROBINSON SELLERS

Born April 25, 1932 in Fluvanna, Virginia to Cecil Douglas and Loula Garnette Robinson, passed September 13, 2012. Anita lived the majority of her youth in Arlington, Virginia with her sisters, Janet, Dianne, Carole and Linda. She attended Patrick Henry Elementary, Thomas Jefferson Junior High and Washington Lee High School. After she married Robert Copperthite and he completed his service in the USAF, they moved to Vienna and later to Woodbridge, Virginia to raise their family, Doug, Vicki, Michael, Craig, and James. She belonged to the Vienna Baptist Church and the Federated Women's Clubs of America.

Anita went to work at Fort Belvoir when her marriage to Bob ended. There she met and married Val Sellers, moving to Reston, Virginia where she remained. Anita was employed as a Contracting Officer at the US Geological Survey and later at the Office of Minerals Management in the Interior Department. She greatly enjoyed traveling and visiting new areas, making many trips to Alaska and other states in the western United States, both for work and pleasure. She also accompanied Val to conventions for the Society of Cartographers, in Spain, Germany, and South America.

After she retired, Anita kept busy with a quilting group and made many beautiful quilts for her family members. She was also active with the Reston Newcomers Travel group and an avid bridge player. She greatly enjoyed the camaraderie of her friends at a monthly supper club, meeting at a different restaurant each month.

Anita was a devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother. While we will share many tears as we mourn our loss, we are here today to honor and celebrate the life she shared with us, and the everlasting life we will eventually share together. Whenever you think of Anita, we ask you to remember her as she lived her life daily - with joy and happiness. Our family sincerely appreciates your prayers and support in memory of her.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday September 20, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Walker Chapel United Methodist Church, 4102 North Glebe Road, Arlington, VA 22207. Burial to take place at Walker Chapel Cemetery. If you wish to send flowers please have them delivered to the church. Online condolences may be left at
