Carolin Neukirchen's death certificate states she died in Feb. 1922 as did her obit."The LaCrosse Tribune", Mon. Feb. 6, 1922, pg 6. stated "Mrs Caroline Neukirchen, 1716 Farwell Street, died Mon. morning at 3:00 at her home after a short illness". She was 86 years of age. She was born at Waterloo, Canada Sept. 16, 1835, and came to the United States at an early age. She was married in LaCrosse and settled on a farm at St. Mary's Ridge, Monroe Co. where she lived for about 30 years coming to LaCrosse twenty-seven years ago. Her (2nd)husband, the late Anton Neukirchen, preceded her in death by sixteen years. She was survived by three sons and four daughters. Mr. Philip Tillman, F. J. Neukirchen, John Neukirchen, Mrs. Herman Peters, Mrs John Reben/Reburn of LaCrosse, (Is this Theresa?) Mrs Lena Avery, Norfalk, Nebraska. The funeral was to take place Wednesday morning at 8:30 from the home and at 9:00 from the St. Joseph's Cathedral, Rev. Father Pape officiated. Internment was made in the Catholic Cemetery with her husband.
"Declaration for original Pension of a widow having a child or children under sixteen years of age surviving" was completed in LaCrosse on the 7th of Feb. 1906 for Caroline Newkirchen by a notary public.
