Randy Wernecke, age 58, of 9230 Carstens Lake Road, Manitowoc, died unexpectedly on January 4, 2013 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center in Manitowoc.

Randy was born on July 13, 1954 in Manitowoc to Jeanette (Lutzke) Wernecke and the late Lloyd O. Wernecke. He was a 1972 graduate of Valders High School. Randy owned and operated Randy's Excavating, sold state certified firewood, and did snow removal for many Manitowoc businesses.

In his spare time, Randy enjoyed fishing, especially ice fishing on English Lake and Carstens Lake. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed gardening and canning his numerous quarts of tomato juice. Randy was always there for his friends and family and especially enjoyed entertaining people in his shop where his buddies came to play cards or watch TV.

Survivors include six children: Clayton (Sara) Wernecke, Manitowoc; Lucas Wernecke, Superior; Arnold (Karlee) Wernecke, Manitowoc; Miranda Wernecke, Green Bay; and twins Kendra and Colton Wernecke, Mishicot; three grandchildren: Carter, Emalyn and Julian Wernecke. He is further survived by his loving companion, Jeanette Antonie, who worked side by side with him building golf courses, sawing logs, and removing snow. He is also survived by his mother, Jeanette Wernecke and step-dad Eugene Springstube, Manitowoc; and his sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Charlie Bauer, Newton; nephew, Charles (Emily) Bauer, Dale; and niece, Carla (Jonathon) DeJardin, Manitowoc. Randy was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Wernecke and stepmother, Delores Wernecke, and his beloved German Shepherd, Bebe.

Funeral services: Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home, Manitowoc; Deacon Paul Kieffer will officiate.

Burial: Branch Evergreen Cemetery.
