J FESTUS TINSLEY, TEXAS GINER DIES
J. Festus Tinsley, 67 years old, for many years a citizen of Garland, died Saturday morning at his home in Mangum, OK. He came from Virginia to Texas, with his parents in 1867, settling at Garland. He was a prominent cotton gin man, owning several gins in Texas and Oklahoma at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife and five children, Roy, John and Claude Tinsley and Mrs. Hattie Squires and Mrs. Nellie Blankenship; also by two brothers and two sisters, Will and Willis Tinsley and Mmes Oma McDowell of Los Angeles, and C.R. Nesbit of Dallas. Several grandchildren also survive him. Funeral services will be held at Garland Tuesday afternoon, with burial in Garland Cemetery. The Masonic lodge will have charge of the burial.
