May 7th 1880 -- Lyman Spaulding
Lyman Spaulding died at the home of his daughter, Mrs Lewis, Wednesday night. A native of New Hampshire, he came west in 1849 with his family, settling in Medina Twp. After his family had grown he and his wife, went to reside in Canadaigua and gave much of their time and means to place the Congregational Church in that village on a sound, enduring basis, since which time he as resided mostly in this village in the care of his daughter, Mrs Lewis, where the funeral was held, at her residence, Friday. Sermon by his pastor, Rev Van Antwerp and interment took place in Medina Village Cemetery. Died: Aged 76 Years. He had long been troubled with a cancerous sore on the side of his neck, but the cause of death was lung difficulty. His only son, Gen OS Spaulding of St Johns is one of the leading citizens of the state, having held several important positions under the state and general governments.
