Hugh "Speck" Denver Brewer, Sr. age 96, passed away February 22, 2013 in Springfield, Missouri. He was born January 27, 1917 in Jayess, Mississippi, to Dr. O.C. and Dolly (Clark) Brewer. He married to his wife of 67 years, Frances Gatewood and to this union 3 children were born. Hugh served his country in the United States Army during WWII as a Supply Sargent. He was a proud member of the Shriners and loved to hunt and fish. He was active in Robersonville United Methodist Church and Hernando United Methodist Church. Hugh owned Brewer's Store in Robersonville for over 30 years.

Hugh is survived by his wife Frances; 3 children, Hugh Brewer, Jr., Susan Gilliam, and O.C. Brewer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. O.C. and Dolly Brewer; 6 brothers; and 1 sister.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, February 25, 2013 in Nowell Memorial Funeral Home, Tunica, Mississippi. A visitation will be held before the service at 2:00 P.M. Interment will follow the service in Oakwood Cemetery.
