James Asberry Smith's death certificate states that his father was named "Semon Smith."
According to the 1850 census, Seamont Smith of Davie County was a shoemaker by trade and had a son named Asberry.
In 1860, Seamon Smith and his family were living in Grayson County, VA.
The Blevins family lived in northeastern Alleghany County, NC, just across the state line from Grayson County, VA.
