MRS. D. J. HOVENDEN
Mrs. D. J. Hovenden died of heart trouble on Friday morning, May 18, at her home in Garfield Township after an illness of but a few hours. She was taken sick Thursday evening and passed away the following day.
Hattie Harkness was born in 1854 and was married in 1873 to D. J. Havenden. She was the mother of four children, all of whom are living. They are W. H. of Council Bluffs, C. L. of North Bend, Nebraska, Mae of San Francisco, California, and Mrs. J. C. Long of Blair, Nebraska. Besides her husband and children, one brother, Chas. Harkness of Heyden, Colorado also survives. All the children but Mae were present at the funeral.
The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. F. N. Willis conducting the service. The pall bearers were Marion Stewart, Herman Petters, Otto Swenson, D. M. Sprague, Joe Gilchrist, and Walter Tenney and burial was in Evergreen Cemetery. The singers were Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Brodby, Miss Emma Gustafson, and Hal Clovis.
Mrs. Hovenden was a loving mother to her family and a kind neighbor, whose passing is sincerely mourned by the community in which she lived.
