Katherine Alyce Michie was born March 28, 1914 in Rawlins, Carbon County, Wyoming to David Francis Michie Sr. and Evangeline Ellen Lyons Michie. She was the 5th child out of 12. She was 16 when her mother died February 14, 1930. Katherine Alyce Michie had red hair. She initially married James Frederick "Jimmy" Summers. They had one son, James Frederick "Fred" Summers born July 20, 1934. In 1941 at the age of 27, she married Joseph Peter "Joe" Wendling in Washington, D.C. They had two children, Charles Lawrence "Pidge or Chuck" Wendling (July 18, 1944 - September 26, 2004) and Joseph Patrick Wendling (May 27, 1947 - October 6, 1996). Katherine Alyce Michie Summers/Wendling also had a fourth child who died at birth due to the umbilical cord being wrapped around its neck. She died August 11, 1985 at the Yucaipa Valley Hospital, San Bernardino County, California of a heart attack at the age of 71. She was cremated August 12, 1985. Her ashes were spread over the Pacific Ocean with her boyfriend named Muggs. When she died, she was living in San Bernardino, California.
