Forrest Grant Smith, "Smitty", age 93, passed away July 19, 2005 in Ferron. Born Oct. 3, 1911 in Murray, UT. to William Willis and Maggie Wood Smith. He married Sarah Jane Griffiths Sept. 7, 1931 in Farmington, later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. He was president of the Carbon High Boosters club in the 50's. He loved being a rockhound and served as president of the Carbon County Gem Society. He hunted and fished all his life until his health would no longer allow it and was a lousy housekeeper. He served as a High Priest in the LDS Church. Forrest is survived by his wife of almost 74 years, Jane "Toots" of Carbonville and children and their spouses: Colleen and Duaine Hatch of American Falls, Idaho; Roger and Karen Smith of Castle Dale; Judi and George Baker of Orangeville; and Greg Smith of Vail, Colorado; 27 grandchildren and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by daughters-in-law Bena Lee Smith of Price; and Bonnie Jean Smith of Orem. Preceded in death by sons Forrest Grant and Gerald Leon and daughters Evona and Sharon Ann. Funeral services will be held Sat., July 23, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Price Stake Center (1st So. and 5th E. in Price), where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Cliff View Cemetery in Price under the direction of Fausett Mortuary.
