Evangeline Ellen Michie Bryant was born September 18, 1907 in Ravenna, Buffalo County, Nebraska to David Francis Michie Sr and Evangeline Ellen Lyons Michie. At the age of 2, she lived in Alliance, Box Butte County, Nebraska where her father worked for the Burlington Railroad. Her brother David Francis Michie Jr - 1 died on July 17, 1910 less than a year old and is buried in Alliance. By 1912, the family was living in Merigold, Bolivar County, Mississippi where her uncles George, James, and Ese lived. Her sister Elizabeth Anne "Betty" Michie was born in Merigold in 1912 and died in 1915 in Ravenna, Buffalo County, Nebraska of cholera infantum. By the spring of 1914, the family moved to Rawlins, Carbon County, Wyoming where her father worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as an engineer. Subsequent siblings were born in Rawlins. Evangeline Ellen Michie Bryant is the eldest of 12 children with 9 surviving to adulthood. She graduated from Rawlins High School in Rawlins, Carbon County, Wyoming in 1925. In high school, she participated in Glee Club (9, 10, and 11), 3A Club (9), University Club (12), and Class Basketball (9 and 10). Her friends called her Mickie. In her free time, she enjoyed singing and playing the piano. A few months after high school graduation, Evangeline Ellen Michie, at the age of 19, married Glenn Alvin Bryant at 7 a.m. on Monday, September 20, 1926 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rawlins, Carbon County with Father Schellinger officiating. Approximately 65 relatives and friends attended the wedding with Elizabeth Birmingham and Francis Murphy as the maid of honor and best man. Evangeline Ellen Michie Bryant wore a tailored dress with a hat of jungle green. The bridesmaids wore a tailored suit of blue. Following the marriage ceremony, a wedding breakfast was served at the Ferris Hotel. They originally made their home at 903 North Ninth Street in Rawlins, Carbon County, Wyoming before moving to California. They returned to Rawlins in 1930 when Evangeline Ellen Michie Bryant's mother died, February 14, 1930. The 1930 U.S. Census listed her husband as a taxi driver in Rawlins. During World War II, while her brothers John and Tom were in the U.S. Military (John - U.S. Navy; Tom - U.S. Army) in the Pacific, Evangeline Ellen Michie Bryant and her husband worked as ship builders in southern California. They had three children - Bettye Evangeline, Robert Matthew, and Glenda Mary Theresa Susan. Evangeline Ellen Michie Bryant died at the age of 72 in Glendale, Los Angeles County, California on July 27, 1980 and was buried three days later in the San Fernando Mission, San Fernando, Los Angeles County, California. Cause of death, per the death certificate, was listed as cardiac arrest, coronary artery occlusion, and coronary arteriosclerosis. Secondary causes of death included perforated sigmoid diverticulum and transverse colostomy. She died at 5:25 a.m. in the Glendale Memorial Hospital. The mortuary was Wood Glendale Mortuary in Mission Hills, California.
