Loran E. Bartholomew, Jr., 4l, 2408 Arapahoe Trail, Beatrice, NE died Friday, May l3, l988 at the Veterab;s Hospital in Lincoln. (He died from "Agent Orange"...a chemical used in combat in the Vietnam War.)..Born August l9, l946 in Beatrice, NE to Loran E. Bartholomew, Sr. and Ellyn L. (Lawrence) Bartholomew. He was 4th child of six children and first born son. He lived in Crab Orchard, NE before moving to Beatrice in l969. He served in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War two years. Loran owned/operated his own tree service in the Beatrice area for many years.
Survivors are his wife, Diane (Tieman) Bartholomew, and a step-daughter, Rachel of the home; two brothers--Cydney Ray (wife-Cindy) of Onawa, Iowa; Jimmy Joe (wife-Wanda) of Clovis, N.M.; two sisters-Loranetta Bartholomew Styers of Beatrice, NE and Nyla M. (husband-Ray) Akin of Bolivar, Mo. Father-Loran E. Bartholomew, Sr. of Huffsmith, Texas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ellyn L. (Lawrence) Bartholomew and sister, Patricia Kay Bartholomew.
Funeral 2 PM Tuesday, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Beatrice, NE with Rev. George B. Matthews officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Beatrice, NE. Full military services will be at the gravesite and will be conducted by Bitting Norman American Legion Post 27. Body in state at the church one hour preceding services. There will be a family prayer service at l:45 pm Tuesday in the church Fellowship Hall. Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in charge of memorial and funeral services.
Note: Loran was married/divorced several times. He had no children.
