Lewis Woltz Edwards, age 91, passed away in the comfort of his home on February 22, 2013.

He was the son of the late Jesse Morgan Edwards and Elizabeth Weddle Edwards. Woltz is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Frances Utt Edwards; his daughter, Linda Sue Hill; his brother Jim Edwards of Fancy Gap; and his sister Hazel Dickens of Norfolk.

He is survived by his sister Jessie Hodge of Mount Airy, NC; his son, Charles M. Edwards of the home; and his daughter Donna Harris and her husband Jim of Hillsville. In addition, Woltz leaves behind many beloved family members including 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Woltz was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and received a Purple Heart for his service in World War II, having been wounded during the Battle of the Bulge. He was a talented carpenter and craftsman, his woodwork and custom cabinets made their way into many homes in the area. Woltz loved his family, his neighbors, his friends, his church, and his country. He enjoyed his years of active involvement with the V.F.W. in Hillsville. He touched many hearts in his journey through life and will be greatly missed.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Gladesboro Lutheran Church at 11:00 AM with Pastor Joe Shumate officiating. Burial will follow in the Gladesboro Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by Hillsville V.F.W. Post 1115.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, February 25, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Gladesboro Lutheran Church 3486 Gladesboro Road Hillsville, Virginia 24343 or to the Disabled American Veterans P.O. Box 14301 Cincinnati.
