GLOUCESTER - Katherine Lewis Pickett, 72, a Gloucester resident for 21 years, died Wednesday, Aug. 26. A New York City native, she was a member of the Garden Club of Gloucester, the Ware River Circle of King's Daughters, the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities and the Virginia Historical Society. Mrs. Pickett was also chairman of the Gloucester Historical Main Street Association. She was active in real estate in Gloucester for 10 years and was a member of Abingdon Episcopal Church, White Marsh, where she was head of the Altar Guild. Survived by her husband, retired Rear Adm. Ben B. Pickett; a son, Ludwell L. Pickett of Gloucester; a sister, Elizabeth L. Lewis of Greenville; and a brother, Mays L. Lewis Jr. of Asheville, N.C. Visitation was at the residence. Funeral at 3 p.m. Sunday at Abingdon Episcopal Church by the Rev. Dennis Schmidt. Burial in the church cemetery. Memorials to Abingdon Episcopal Church Endowment Fund, White Marsh 23183. Arrangements by Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point.
