Doris M. Allen, 60, of rural Homer, died at 12:30 p.m. Friday (Jan. 17 1986) at Mercy Hospital. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carrington Funeral Home, Fairmount, with the Rev. Carl Hendry officiating. Burial was at GAR Cemetery, Homer. Visitation was from 6 to 9 Monday at the funeral home. Mrs. Allen was born July 5, 1925, at Homer, a daughter of Melvin and Vesta Myers Hillard. She married Robert Allen on Dec. 15, 1944 at Danville. He survives. Also surviving are two sons, James R. Allen and Donald P. Allen,, both of Homer; three daughters, Barbara Phillips of Homer and Judy Allen and Melinda Scheuneman, both of Urbana; one brother, John Hillard of Woodstock; three sisters, Autilla Tucker of Flora, Bonnie Baird and Patty Tyler, both of Homer; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Allen was a member of the Homer United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Mercy Hospital hospice unit, the American Cancer Society or to the Homer United Methodist Church.
