Harvey William Hiatt, age 79, of 400 Vision Dr., Asheboro died Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Randolph Hospice House.

Mr. Hiatt was born in Rockingham County on August 3, 1933 to Roscoe Martin and Mary Pearl Cox Hiatt. He was retired from Randolph County Schools as a bus mechanic. Harvey was a member of Hunt's Plank Road Chapel and a member of Balfour Lodge #188. In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by his wife Beulah B. Hiatt, sister Burdine Sink, and brother Charlie Hiatt. Harvey's love was for music and he played with many different groups.

He is survived by his son, Ronnie W. Hiatt and his wife Joyce of Sophia; granddaughter, Jenny Hardin and her husband Donny of Trinity; 1 great grandson; stepsons, Tony Carrick of Asheboro, James "Jimmy" Carrick of Asheboro; stepdaughter, Verna Stout of Asheboro; 7 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; sisters, Hazel West of Knoxville, TN and Irene Gordon of Greensboro and special friend, Emma Jean Marley of Asheboro.

The family will receive friends on Monday, February 25, 2013 from 10:30 AM-12:00 noon at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro, NC. Funeral services will follow on Monday at 12:00 noon at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clay Davis and Pastor Jimmy Honeycutt officiating. Burial will be in the Beane Family Cemetery in Black Ankle.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff of Woodland Hill Care & Rehabilitation for the loving care given to Harvey.
