Ruth Merle (Easley) Matthews, 99 of Comanche, passed away in her home early Monday morning January 24, 2022.

In consideration of the wellbeing of the family and the many friends during the continuing COVID19 Pandemic, she was laid to rest in a private graveside service next to her husband Norman Beene Matthews Tuesday morning January 25, 2022.

Mrs. Ruth Matthews is survived by her son Tim Matthews, and a precious host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and innumerable friends! She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Norman Beene Matthews. Father and Mother William Paul and Myrtle Lightfoot Easley and sister, Pauline Hall.

There are only happy tears, no sad tears. Mother would like everyone to take inventory of your life where you are with Jesus right now! Mother tells the story when she was 4 or 5 years old one Sunday night her Grandpa Rev. R. B. Easley preached on the end of time. After church she was standing in the back of a model T between Rev. R.B. Easley and her Dad heading home when they topped the hill north of VanDyke the northern lights were putting on a show. Mother just knew Jesus was returning right then! Grandpa and her Dad knew what they were, but mother did not. If you fear and do not know Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Just drop to your knees and ask Jesus into your heart, ask him to forgive you of your sins. You will be eternally grateful to know you are saved, washed in HIS blood, made whole, your name is written in The Lamb's Book of Life and you will be at the Banquet of all Banquets The Marriage Supper of THE LAMB!

Ruth Merle Matthews Graveside service, Officiant was Tim Matthews. He read the obituary, prayed for all the Covid19 sick, sang "Thank You Lord", read out of God's Word
Proverbs 31:10..., told of mother raising Cantaloupes and how the Spotted and Striped Cucumber beetles were not letting the flowers pollinate and mother had Bill Smith Spray insecticide the fourth time and how the cantaloupes made. Tim sang "The Prodigal Son'' remembering Paul Easley who sang when he led the singing at Easley Chapel Freewill Baptist Church. He asked all to pray for all the Prodigals...we all have them and that they would get saved before it's too late. Like The King James says, that they would come unto themselves!

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ministry of your choice.
