Mrs. Jeraldine “Jerri” Pittillo, 82, of Portales, died Thursday, March 3, 2005, at Roosevelt General Hospital in Portales.

She was born on Dec. 31, 1922, in Afton, Texas, to Alma and A.R. “Ray” Pool.

She attended school at Spring Lake, Texas, and Hart Camp, Texas before graduating from high school in Littlefield, Texas. She married Norman Pittillo on May 31, 1942, in Fieldton, Texas. They lived in Taft, Calif., LaJunta, Colo. and Yuma, Ariz. They moved to Houston and then on Feb. 18, 1947, they moved to Portales, where they farmed. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught children’s Sunday School classes. She was a leader for the 4-H Club. She was a member of the Bethel Homemaker’s Club, and Farmer’s Home Administration Committee. Family members said she enjoyed quilting, sewing and raising pretty house plants.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Billy Ray Pool; a sister, Havah Haley; a son, Norman Wayne “Butch” Pittillo; and a grandson, Jim Wayne Davis.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, DeAnna Davis (and husband, Jim) of Portales; two granddaughters, Amy Taylor (John) and Heather Cameron (Worthy); four great-grandchildren, Casey Chyanne and Joshua Taylor and Abigail and Cade Cameron; two brothers, Leland Pool of Bethel and K.D. “Darrell” Pool of Cleburne, Texas; and two sisters, Joy Riley of Littleton, Colo. and Jackie Boyd of Oklahoma City.

Herbert Bergstrom and the Rev. Dick Ross will officiate the services.
Burial will be at Portales Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jerry Woods, Eldon Hays, Butch McGowan, Arnold Smith, Cort Prude and Dave Collins.
Honorary pallbearers are Doyle Feagley, Herbert Newberry, Gale Newberry, Willie McGinnis and the deacons of First Baptist Church.
Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales.
