Ruth Baker Allen
October 28, 1920 - November 26, 2012 Ruth Baker Allen died peacefully in her sleep in Eaton, Maryland. Born in San Antonio, Texas, Ruth spent most of her very full life in her beloved South, raising her two children Carolyn and Danny in Mobile, Alabama. In 1960, she and her husband, Dan Baker, opened the Magnolia Bowling Lanes in Pascagoula where they both enjoyed the community of bowlers for many years. Later after Dan died, Ruth established her business, Bed and Bath Boutique in Gautier-still enjoying bowling. 1959, Ruth was named national Doubles Champion. She married George Allen in 1975, and in 1996, her son, Dan, was killed in a fire. In her 85th year, Katrina happened and she relocated in Maryland where her daughter, Carolyn lived. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Baker Mills, eight grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Ruth will be remembered for her integrity and her strong feisty nature.
Memorial Service will be conducted by Dr. John Snyder at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 2pm. Inurnment of ashes will follow.
