David L. Engle, Sr., 64, of Bingham/Decatur died at 5:15 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at Dawson and Wikoff Funeral Home in Mt. Zion. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery in Long Creek with full military honors provided by the Macon County Honor Guard.
Mr. Engle was born in Decatur on Sept. 6, 1948, the son of the late Vaun and Gladys (Hutson) Engle. He married Cheri Binger on Sept. 14, 1974.
He retired in 1998 from Caterpillar, where he operated a paint booth. He also owned and operated Engle's Roofing and Construction.
Mr. Engle enjoyed the woods and he loved fishing and hunting. According to his family, he had a giving heart and would go out of his way to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his children, Tasha Engle of Decatur, David Engle, Jr. (fiancee Haley) of Nokomis, Deana (husband Dustin) Clark of Blue Mound, Dana (husband Eric) Powell of Oakland City, IN, Dawn (husband Mike) Rosenberger of Wapella, Bobby Howse of Mt. Pulaski and Denise (husband Bret) Porter of Shelbyville; brother, Jim (wife Janet) Engle of Long Creek; sisters, Sue Adamcryk of Cushing, TX, and Gloria Dueling of Naples, FL; and 19 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Engle was preceded in death by a brother, Gary.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
