Hazel Bernice O'Quinn Boyd, 85, of Jayess, MS passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb. Visitation was Friday evening at Gospel Assembly Church in McComb, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and continued Saturday from 9:00 until funeral services at the church at 11:00 AM. Rev. Bobby Boyd and Bro. Tommy Boyd did officiate. Burial was in Enon Cemetery. Pallbearers were Keith, Zachary, Justin, Kevin, Roger Boyd and Devin Battle.
Honorary pallbearer was Chris Battle.
Mrs. Boyd was born October 3, 1927 in Walthall County, MS. She was the daughter of Press D. O'Quinn and Hazel Roberts O'Quinn. Mrs. Boyd worked for several years at Kellwood Manufacturing in Monticello and later worked as a sitter for several years. She enjoyed working in her yard. Mrs. Boyd was a longtime member of Gospel Assembly Church in McComb.
Mrs. Boyd was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Woodrow O'Quinn; four sisters, Pearline Roberts, Agnes Boyd, Edna Greer and Christine Dunaway; one grandson, Brian Chadwick Boyd; one daughter-in-law, Nola Faye Boyd.
She is survived by three sons, Billy Boyd of Jayess, Bobby Boyd and wife, Penny of McComb and Tommy Boyd and wife, Ann of Jayess; one daughter, Hazel Deskin and husband, Mike of Jayess; four grandchildren, Keith Boyd and wife, Julie of Jayess, Karen Boyd and husband, Kevin of McComb, Stacy Battle and husband, Chris of Monticello and Daniel Boyd of Jayess; seven great grandchildren, Zachary Boyd, Justin Boyd both of Jayess, Kayla Boyd, Karli Boyd and Kalli Boyd all of McComb, Derrick Battle and wife, Laura of Japan and Devin Battle of Monticello; two great great grandchildren, Easton and Peyton Battle and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
