Born in Powhatan, Louisiana to Mike Benjamin and Mildred Mae Adcock Durr, Mr. Durr grew up in north Louisiana. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and later moved to the Lake Charles area in 1955. Later in his retirement years he enjoyed working at Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Durr was a loyal and devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church.

He cherished spending time with his precious family, his adoring cat Abbie and his loving friends. It was also known that he was the "Unofficial " hugger by all who knew him.
