Age 84
Mr. Clyde Raymond McKinney, age 84 of Mt. Vernon, went home to be with Jesus, Friday, February 15, 2013 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. He was born in Rockcastle Co. KY on October 2, 1928 the son of John and Ellen Brown McKinney.
He was a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and music director, along with several other areas of service to his Lord, for many years at Freedom Baptist Church. He also served as Treasurer for the Rockcastle Association of Baptists for 25 years as well as serving as board member until his death. He was a retired farmer and a life-long resident of Rockcastle County.
He was a faithful husband of 61 years to Lena Payne McKinney; a loving father to two sons, Ronnie McKinney and wife Jenny, and Jerry McKinney and wife Debbie; one daughter, Teresa McKinney McPheron and husband John; six cherished grandchildren, Shena McKinney, Emily Goodman and husband Ed, Nick McPheron and wife Karianne, Ben McPheron, Egan McKinney, and Elise McKinney; a sister, Alta Bullock; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by ten brothers and sisters. Raymond's life-long desire was for his family and friends to know his Lord as their Savior.
