Services for Mrs. Byron Norrell, 97, 109 E. 16th, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Ray Gearing conducting the rites.
Mrs. Ann Gertrude Norrell died Wednesday, August 20, 1975 in a local hospital. She was born, Nov. 25, 1877, in Hubbard, Tex., to Sanford Franklin and Martha Texanna Oates Case and came to this area in 1904. Mrs. Norrell graduated from Baylor University in 1903 and was the first music teacher at East Central State Normal School. She was head of the music department there in 1909 and 1910 and also taught in Corsicana, Tex.
In 1917 she married Byron Norrell, who died here in 1938. Mrs. Norrell resided at 219 E. 12th for 45 years and moved to her present address in 1963. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her sister, Mrs. R. A. Herndon, of the home, and numerous nieces and nephews. Bearers are J.B. Floyd, Jim Herndon, Renfro Herndon, R.A. Herndon Jr., Nelson Keller, Harvey Lambert, Roy McKeown, Kenneth Smith, Birch Case, John Skinner, and Jim Floyd. Burial will be in Rosedale Cemetery. Criswell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
