CARPENTER, SARAH KATHRYN PROVINCE, of Knoxville, left us to be with her Lord on Wednesday, February 20, 2013, after living 81 full and blessed years. Sarah was born September 29, 1931, in Knoxville, Tennessee, to Herman Clifton Province and Kathryn Lee McClain Province. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church. Sarah was a strong lady with a wonderful smile who survived The Great Depression; the untimely death of the love of her life, James Robert "Bob" Carpenter in 1992 and her precious son, James Robert "Jimmy" Carpenter, Jr. in 2010. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Jane "Janie" Carpenter Cox and husband, Gordon, of Lake City; sons, Richard Joel "Joey" Carpenter and Jon Clifton Carpenter; daughter-in-law, Jackie Carpenter, all of Knoxville; brother, Herman Clifton Province, Jr. and wife, Bobby, of Wilkesboro, N.C.; sister, Sandra Province Douglass and husband, Nathan, of Andersonville. Grandchildren, Glenn Cox and wife, Ashley, of Lake City; John Cox and wife, Leah; Sarah Beth Carlon and husband, Josh; Laura Baker and husband, Ken; Drew Carpenter and wife, Tiffany; great-granddaughter, Ellery Carlon, all of Knoxville; several dear nieces, nephews and cousins; and too many friends to count. The family would like to thank Dr. Jay Young at Tennova. Receiving of friends will be Friday, Feb. 22, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Rose Mortuary Broadway Chapel with a celebration of life service to follow with Dr. David A. Lord officiating.
