Harry Lee Stanley, Sr. 82 of Bassett died Thursday November 24, 2011 at his home. Born in Franklin Co on September 13, 1929 the son of the late George Lawrence Stanley and the late Lena Whitlow Stanley. In addition to his parents he was also preceded by brother George William Stanley. Harry was in the U.S. Army and retired from J.D. Bassett Furniture.
Surviving is one son Harry Lee Stanley, Jr., of Bassett, one daughter Kathy Stanley of Collinsville, one step daughter Vicky Manley of Martinsville, 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In addition there are two sisters Lessie S. Hall of Bassett and Annie S. Spencer of Bassett. Visitation will be Sunday November 27 from 6-8 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service and at other times at the home of his daughter Kathy Stanley at 74 Ford St, Apt 1 Collinsville, Va. 24078. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday November 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bassett Funeral Service . Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park with full military honors conducted by the Martinsville and Henry Co, Veterans Honor Guard. Bassett Funeral Service in Bassett is in charge of the arrangements.
