Lucinda Area Sisters Die Less Than 10 Hours Apart

FRYBURG – Two, sisters, both residents of the Lucinda area, died less than ten hours apart Monday in the Clarion Hospital. Mrs. Louise Lutz, 64, of Snydersburg; wife of Guy Lutz, died at 8 a.m. and Mrs. Euphrasina Schmader, 82, of Lucinda, widow of John J. Schmader, died at 5:30 p.m. High mass of requiem will be celebrated in a double funeral service in St. Joseph Church, Lucinda, at 9 a.m. Thursday with the pastor, Rev. William Holl, as celebrant. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Father Holl will lead a recitation of the rosary in the Faller Funeral Home at Fryburg for Mrs. Lutz and Mrs. Schmader at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Mrs. Lutz was born at Lucinda January 12, 1903, a daughter of Joseph and Susana Oberlander Lander. She lived her entire life in the Snydersburg – Lucinda area. She and Guy Lutz were married in 1922. He survives. She was a member of the St. Joseph Church in Lucinda and St. Joseph Rosary Society. Surviving are her husband, Guy Lutz; seven children, Kenneth Lutz of Shippenville, David Lutz of Marble, Mrs. Richard (Mary) Holder of Balboa Canal Zone, Winfield Lutz of Lucinda, Mrs. Ray (Alice) Guntrum of Rimersburg, Albinus Lutz of Fryburg, Mrs. Regis (Catherine) Luden, of Snydersburg, 14 grandchildren; two brothers, Henry and Joseph Lander of Lucinda, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Hahn of Rixford. A son; Clarence, was killed in action in World War II in 1945. A daughter, Ellen, died in infancy. Mrs. Schmander was born at Lucinda March 29, 1885, a daughter of Joseph and Susana Oberlander Lander, and was a lifelong resident of the Lucinda area. She was married November 24, 1908, to John J. Schmander. He died October 29, 1966. Mrs. Schmander was a member of St. Joseph Church and Rosary Society of Lucinda. She is survived by three sons, Eugene, John and Daniel Schmander, all of Lucinda; 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Henry and Joseph Lander of Lucinda, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Hahn of Rixford. A son Bernard, died September 12, 1962.
