She was the sister of Nina Brendel and the daughter of the late William and Cynthia Fleahman nee Shelton. She is preceded in death by a grandson, Isaac Stegmann. She worked at Baden Bank in St. Louis for many years, was a member of Lake St. Louis Extension Club and Women's Fellowship at Faith UCC.
