Claudia Ethylne Tolbert Oquin Love died at home in Harrison, Tenn., surrounded by her family, on May 28, 1997, from complications related to terminal breast cancer.

She was preceded in death be her father Clifford Grayson Tolbert, Jr. of West Virginia, and her stepfather, Hayes O'Quin of Abingdon, Va. She is survived by her children Shantih Love Crowdis and John Todd Love II. She was married to John Herman Love from 1970 until 1991; and loving partner and companion to Charles W. Claypool from 1994 until her death.

The daughter of Clifford Tolbert and Elcie (Belcher)Tolbert Oquin. Her father, a Navy sailor, died in a car crash when she was four. Her mother later remarried to Hayes Oquin, a career Army Soldier, who later adopted her. She had two half brothers; Robert Hayes Oquin and George Joey Oquin.

Per her wishes, she was cremated and most of her ashes spread by her children and family throughout her home garden in Harrison, Tenn., and Belcher Cemetery in Harman, Va. The remainder were buried under her headstone in Belcher Cemetery.
