Mr. Rivers was born in Visalia and lived in Exeter many years. In 1932, he opened the Exeter Music Store. He served as an Exeter City council member and president of the Exeter Lions Club. He was a past member of the Exeter Sportsman's Lodge.

Survivors are his wife, Florence; two brothers, Bill and Ralph; and four sisters, Lois, Irene, Edith, and Ethel.

Mr. Rivers was a World War II Army veteran.
