Tom Olmer, 68, of Monroe, Ga., passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon, Ga., after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Greensburg and raised in Norvelt. Following graduation from St. Vincent College, he joined the Army and was honorably discharged as a first lieutenant. He obtained a master's degree from Purdue University and a master's degree from Georgia State University. Tom worked continuously in various healthcare management positions until his retirement as a senior vice president with Central Georgia Health Systems in 2004. While employed at CGHS, Tom was active in both civic and service organizations, including Kiwanis, where he served as both president and lieutenant governor. He is survived by his wife, Andrea (Brown) Olmer; his stepdaughter, Katherine Limer; his mother, Doris Kull Olmer, of Augusta, Ga.; his sister, Nancy Cisick and her husband, Andy Baumgartner, of Augusta, Ga.; his sister-in-law and her husband, Jill and Keith McCrary, of Albany, Ga.; aunts, Pat Olmer and Lorraine Kull; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Gravesides service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Hillview Cemetery, Greensburg, with the Rev. Martin R. Bartel, OSB, officiating. LEO M.
