Son of Nathan Hodges & Mary Graham

His parents were born in North Carolina and married 1801 in Bulloch Co, Georgia. Father Nathan Hodges died 1848 in Lowndes County, Georgia. His family was among those moving out of the Carolinas toward the south.

When Alexander married is unknown as he is married in the 1850 census. His wife's proper names, both given and maiden, are a subject of controversy.

Three Known Children:
1. Edwin D. Hodges - October 5, 1837
Twin daughters:
2. Mary Hodges - August 16, 1839
3. Martha Hodges - August 16, 1839

Alexander is first found in the 1850 Lowndes County, Ga, census with his wife "Seleta", age 30, and family. Thereafter he is in Florida: 1860, New River; 1870, Bradford County and then a widower in 1880 in Alachua County. He is enumerated as a farmer, however his gravestone indicates he was a Reverend.

His daughter Martha married Samuel Burton Dampier who moved the family to Texas by 1870.

His will was proven in Alachua County Court May 26, 1884, with E.D. Hodges named executor, who was his son Edwin. He willed his entire estate to Elizabeth Godwin, relationship unknown.
