John was united in marriage with Sarah "Sally" Lavina Toner on November 26, 1863 in Flemingsburg, Fleming County, Kentucky. A little over a decade later he moved with his family to Hillsboro, Kentucky. While in Hillsboro, John was a well known cabinet maker (Kentucky Kin folks). According to the 1900 census Sarah Toner Edwards was the mother of ten children.
The exact location of the death of John is unknown, but since he was a resident of Hillsboro in the 1800 census it is likely that he died and was buried there. However, no record could be found.
