Earl Robert Adams, youngest son of Charles and Margaret (Flamming) Adams, was born July 31, 1924, in Aurora County, SD. He grew up on a farm between White Lake and Plankinton, SD, and attended Krell School near White Lake. He farmed then entered the United States Marine Corps.
He was united in marriage with Twyla Edwards, May 25, 1952, at her folks farm, north of Plankinton, SD. They renewed those vows in a grand weekend on their 50th wedding anniversary at their homeplace in Plankinton, with the children hosting many relatives and friends. His children will remember his devotion to his spouse, integrity and honesty, strong work ethic, and being neighborly to all.
In addition to raising calves and sheep, he was the proprietor and sole mechanic of Adams Service. There wasnt anything he couldnt fix or build. He never met a stranger, just friends he had yet to greet, as exemplified innumerable times providing safe harbor for families and individuals needing assistance during their travels.
In 1996 Earl and Twyla moved to Scotland to retire. They enjoyed travel in the Lower 48 and Canada to visit children, grandchildren, relatives and friends; playing cards and games with locals and crew at Lesterville Pinochle evening and occasionally attempting games of chance; attending grandchildrens school events; and worshipping at the Tyndall Methodist Church. Earl loved completing puzzles, particularly the daily crossword; watching TV gameshows, and cheering for the Twins.
Grateful for having shared his life is his wife of 58 years Twyla, Scotland, SD; and his children, Donald (Karen) Adams, Sioux Falls, SD; Denise (Curtis) Fox, Alexandria, SD; Debra Adams, Belfair, WA; David (Patti) Adams, Merrimac, WI; Dorene (Craig) Winckler, Scotland, SD; Douglas (Tammy) Adams, Kansas City, MO; and Daryl (Karen) Adams, Northville, MI; special family friend, Tracye Sherrill; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; one brother, Irvin Jack Adams, Philippines; and one sister Lorraine Redmann, Wessington Springs, SD; nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Frances, Donald, Marvin, and sisters, Helen and Arlene; and stepmothers Minnie and Alma.
