Kimberly D. Hodges, 47, of Brownsville, died Thursday October 16, 2008 in the emergency room at Fayette Regional Health System after becoming ill at home.

She was born June 17, 1961 in Richmond to Calvin and Mary M. Inman Smith and was a 1981 graduate of Union County High School. Kim had most recently had been employed in the office at Roots Blower, Connersville and had previously worked at First Richmond Bank for 14 years, Fayette County Library and Murphy's Gas. Kim loved the Lord and filled her free time working for her church, the Brownsville Chapel where she was a lifetime member. She also served as the song leader, treasurer and organized many functions for the church.

Kim is survived by her husband, Luke; her parents of Brownsville; two sisters: Donna Wilson of Liberty, Debra Spurlock and her husband, Greg of Southern Pines, NC; a brother: David L. Smith and JoAnn of Liberty; three nieces and their husbands: Angelicque McQueen of Anaheim, CA, Erin Grimes and Andrew of Brownsville, Katherine Parrott and Mike of Fayetteville, NC; four nephews and their wives: Robert Tompkins of Liberty, Jason E. Smith and Valerie of Cambridge City, Kenneth A. Spurlock and Amy of Terre Haute, Aaron Spurlock of Southern Pines, NC; great-nieces and nephews: Devon, Maya, Landon, Hailey, Kyler and Austin.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and a brother, Dennis who died in October of 1969.

Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Tuesday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, with Rev. Steven Stalker of the Brownsville Chapel officiating. Interment will follow in the Brownsville Christian Union Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday and prior to the service on Tuesday.
