Born on Sept. 25, 1921, in Lake City, she was a daughter of the late Samuel M. and Sarah Jane Godwin. Mrs. Lizzie was a homemaker and a member of Open Bible Baptist Church. She was a true Christian mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Mrs. Lizzie was a blessing to all who knew her. She loved working in the yard and looked forward to planting her vegetable garden each year, bountiful fruits of which she shared with many, and she was especially known for her collards.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Wilton and Foster Godwin; sisters, Effie Godwin and Rosa Bryant Dyson; and great-grandson, Bryson Owen Johnson.
