Funeral Services for Myrtle A. Larson, age 96 years and 11 months, will be held in Adams. The funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, at Little Cedar Lutheran Church, Adams, MN. Interment will be at Little Cedar Lutheran Cemetery, Adams.

After a long and full life, she died on Saturday, February 16, 2013 in Burnsville, MN. She was a life long resident of the Adams community.

Friends and family may attend the reviewal at the Adams Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, February 22nd, and at Little Cedar Lutheran Church, one hour, prior to the service on Saturday, February 23.

Myrtle Angeline Larson was born on March 17, 1916, in Marshall Township to Clarence and Marie (Tufte) Matteson. Myrtle was baptized and confirmed at Little Cedar Lutheran Church. She graduated from Adams High School in 1934. She lettered in girls basketball all 4 years. She attended Mankato Beauty School after high school.

In April 1935, she returned home after getting her beautician license and was employed at Walt's Beauty Salon in Austin.

On November 6, 1938, she was married to Nomer J. Larson. They started farming on the John Matteson homestead. She was a farm wife and mother to seven children. They farmed in Marshall Township until retirement in 1980.

After Nomer's passing in the fall of 1993, she moved to Assisted Living in Adams. In August 2009, she moved to Augustana Emerald Crest in Burnsville, to be closer to a majority of her children.

Myrtle was a life long member of Little Cedar Lutheran Church. She was active in Circle and WELCA, served on the Church Memorial Committee, and in the Quilting Group. She was also a 4-H leader for the Lucky Clovers 4-H Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nomer, in 1993; her parents; one sister, Corrine; a grandson, Duane Wigham, Jr.; 5 brothers-in-law: Ober Larson, Leonard Tucker, Howard Herr, Curtis Larson and Douglas Thompson; and 3 sisters-in-law: Shirley Tucker, Ardis Herr, and Verla Thompson.

Myrtle is survived by her 7 children; Meridee (Duane) Wigham, Adams, MN; Nylene (Ray) Newkirk, Wayzata, MN; Coral (Keith) Ackman, Cosmos/Lake Lillian, MN; Sue (John) Lupton, Maple Grove, MN; Noel (Chris) Larson, Eagan, MN; Lowell (Ruth) Larson, Hilton Head Island, SC; Valerie (Tim) Altendorfer, Farmington, MN; 18 Grandchildren, 24 Great-grandchildren, and one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law; Loris (Dorothy) Larson, of Austin, MN; and Daisy Larson of Onalaska, WI; several nieces and nephews.

Myrtle Matteson was born on March 17, 1916, to Clarence and Marie (Tufte) Matteson northeast of Adams. She was baptized and confirmed at Little Cedar church.

Myrtle graduated from high school in 1934. She lettered in girls basketball all four years and is a fan of basketball since then. She attended Mankato Beauty School. In April 1935, she returned home after getting her license and was employed in Austin.

On November 6, 1938, she was married to Nomer Larson. They started farming on the farm John Matteson homesteaded and farmed in this area until moving to Adams in 1980. They have seven children: Meridee, Nylene, Coral, Sue, Noel, Lowell, and Valerie who all live in Minnesota. They have 18 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Nomer passed away in October 1993.

Myrtle has been a life long member of Little Cedar; taking part in mission circle, WELCA and Little Cedar Quilting Ladies.

Myrtle's favorite hymn is "How Great Thou Art!"
