Dale F. Bowerman, 78, of Piqua, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Miami
Valley Hospital, Dayton. He was born Sept. 9, 1934, in Macy, Ind. to the late John Harry
and Carrie Marie (Flora) Bowerman.
On Nov. 5, 1954, he married Martha Ellen Piatt in Twelve Mile, Ind.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Judy (Staley) Bowerman of Piqua; his daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Tom Goedde of Piqua;
grandchildren, Andrea Bowerman Hoover and her husband, Nick of Tipp City, Eric Bowerman of Piqua, and his fiancée, Megan Soteriou Davidson of Piqua, Philip Goedde and John Goedde both of Piqua. He was "Papa" to his two great granddaughters, Essie and Audrina Hoover. He also is survived by one sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Rex Lowe, Kokomo, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews.Dale was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Bowerman; three sisters, Bessie Richardson Boone, Sarah Fern "Sally" Huddleston and Doris Avery.

Dale graduated from DeForest College, Chicago, Ill. in 1954, and worked at Scott Radio
Labs in Plymouth, Ind. until it closed in 1957. He and Marty then had an opportunity to
move to Piqua and purchase the B-K Root Beer Stand. They operated the drive-in restaurant
until 1989, having had more than 250 employees during those years.
Dale enjoyed working with teens, many of whom have remained friends throughout the years.

After selling their business in 1989, and for the next 17 years, Dale and Marty traveled
for the Coachmen Motor Home Company of Middlebury, Ind. He enjoyed traveling,
woodworking, and reading western novels, and he loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dale was a member of the Joyful Noise Sunday School Class and was formerly a deacon and
trustee at Piqua Baptist Church. He previously served on the advisory board for the Piqua Salvation Army. He was a 20-year volunteer with the Piqua Police Department Auxiliary, and also has held memberships in
Jaycees and other community organizations.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Melcher-Sowers Funeral Home, Piqua
with Pastor Donald Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery, Piqua.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
